Will one size really fit me?
Yes. The hat is an unstructured six-panel with a standard sweatband, and fine merino wool gently stretches and then returns to shape — it conforms to your head instead of the other way around. The fit is low-profile: it sits close rather than high.
Is merino wool itchy?
No. The itch of old-fashioned wool comes from thick fibers. Fine merino fibers measure under 18.5 microns, thin enough to bend against the skin instead of prickling it. The sweatband is the only thing touching your forehead anyway.
Is a wool cap too warm for summer?
No — merino works both ways. The natural crimp in the fibers creates tiny air pockets that insulate in the cold and breathe in the heat, and the wool absorbs up to 30% of its weight in moisture while still feeling dry. Cool in summer, warm in winter. It also gives natural UV protection.
How do I wash a merino wool cap?
Mostly, you don't need to. Spot clean with a damp cloth; for a deeper clean, hand wash in cold water with a mild wool detergent. Never tumble dry — reshape while damp and lay flat to air dry, away from direct heat and sunlight.
Does a wool hat smell after wearing?
No. Merino is naturally antibacterial, so odor-causing bacteria don't get a foothold, even after extended wear. That's also why it needs so little washing.
Where are Frankys hats made?
In Portugal. The merino is sourced exclusively from Portuguese regions — with special attention to the Serra da Estrela wool tradition — and woven at family-run mills. Frankys started in Porto in 2017 and is based in Amsterdam.
What does shipping cost and how fast is it?
Netherlands: always free. EU: €8, free from 2 hats. Rest of the world: €12, free from 3 hats. Orders ship within 3–5 business days and tracking arrives by email.
Can I return my hat?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery, as long as the hat is unworn and complete. Shipping costs are not refunded. EU consumers also have the 14-day right of withdrawal.
Do I have to pay customs or import duties?
Inside the EU, no. Outside the EU, any customs or import duties are charged when the parcel reaches its destination country and are paid by the recipient — policies vary too widely per country for us to predict the amount.
Where can I buy a Frankys hat?
The homepage is the store — there are no separate product pages. You can spin the hat in 3D, try it on in AR, and check out via Shopify. We ship worldwide.
Is there a Frankys discount code?
Only ones you earn. Beat the arcade on the site and it prints you a personal 10% code, valid for 48 hours. On sunny days in Amsterdam the weather window sometimes hands one out too. Codes are unique, single-use and don't stack — coupon sites have nothing.
