Privacy Policy

Frankys is a hat shop based in Amsterdam. This policy explains what data we handle when you use frankys-hats.com, and why. The short version: we collect as little as possible, and we never sell your data.

What we collect and why

Orders and checkout

Checkout is handled by Shopify. When you place an order, Shopify processes your name, email address, shipping address, and payment details on our behalf so we can fulfil and ship your order. Payments are processed by Shopify's payment providers — we never see your full card details. See Shopify's privacy policy for how they handle this data.

Newsletter

If you sign up for our newsletter, we store your email address as a customer record in Shopify with your marketing consent. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email, or by writing to us.

Cart

A cartId cookie keeps track of your shopping cart between visits. It contains a cart identifier, not personal data.

The arcade and discount codes

If you win a discount in our arcade game or claim a sunny-day discount, we set a short-lived cookie to make sure each win is redeemed only once, and we create a single-use discount code in Shopify. No personal data is involved until you use the code at checkout.

Virtual try-on

The hat try-on feature uses your camera entirely in your browser. Camera images are processed on your device and are never uploaded to, or stored on, our servers. Your browser will ask for camera permission first, and you can decline.

Analytics

We use two things to understand how the shop is doing:

• Shopify analytics cookies (_shopify_y, _shopify_s) — connect your visit to your checkout so orders are attributed to the storefront.
• Vercel Web Analytics — cookieless and anonymised; it does not track you across sites.

Weather

The site shows Amsterdam's weather, fetched from OpenWeatherMap by our server. No data about you is sent to them.

Who we share data with

Only the services that run the shop: Shopify (store, checkout, customer records, discount codes) and Vercel (hosting and anonymised analytics). We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

How long we keep data

Order data is kept as long as required for accounting and tax obligations. Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Discount-code cookies expire on their own within hours to days.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you, and you can object to or restrict its processing. Email hello@frankys-hats.com and we'll sort it out. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update it here with a new date at the top.
